If Christ is active
pre-incarnation does this not detract from the Incarnation?
In short - no. Many want to speak of the incarnation as though the
main thing about it was revelation. This is not the case. Some even want
to say that the important thing about the incarnation is that the Word
took on a shape. This is clearly ridiculous. The wonder of the
incarnation is Jesus sharing in our humanity in every way -
becoming flesh (Heb 2:14-18). The incarnation is about redemption. (1John
3:8) Christ's pre-incarnate work does not detract from this in the
slightest, in fact it heightens it.
The OT is the story of Christ purposefully striding towards His
incarnation. This, far from detracting from the incarnation, actually
makes sense of it.
